Moncure Insurance Agency is an independent insurance agency which offers property and casualty lines of insurance to its business and individual customers. Licensed in Virginia and North Carolina, they can customize insurance packages for home, auto, boat, business owners, workers compensation, life, health, and annuities.

The business started in 1932 as Bagby Insurance Agency and the name was later changed by new owner, Eustace C. Moncure. In 1966, W. Irby Moncure, Jr., CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) left John Hancock Life Insurance Company and joined his uncle in the business, which is now located at 203 South Main Street in Blackstone.
Irby’s daughter, Shirley Moncure Wilkins, handled the life & health division and was Business Manager until her retirement in April 2026.
David Lee Wilkins, CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) joined the firm in 1984 and served as president until his retirement in May of 2025.
